    The Triado family was based in Hawthorn for many years, but has its ancestral roots in the northern Spanish province of Catalonia. The desire to explore the parental origins led 3 of the Triado sisters to live in Barcelona on and off over the past 20 or more years. In 1995 they started the very successful Bar Kasparo, still operated by the one remaining sister in Spain.

    Now back in Melbourne, the seminal experience of the Kasparo years has given birth to TINTO, an authentic Spanish Restaurant & WineBar that brings the bright flavours and exhilarating atmosphere of Barcelona to the heart of Melbourne’s inner east, offering a unique and relaxed space for people to meet and socialise. The name is derived from ‘Vino Tinto’ – (literal: “tinted”) meaning ‘Red Wine’ in Spanish.

    Tinto has a bar, a dining area as well as footpath eating and a small courtyard. One of the main features is its long Spanish style bar, perfect for a casual catch-up with friends or simply sitting by yourself. Have a chat over a ‘cerveza’ [beer] or ‘vino tinto’ while enjoying delicious tapas or raciones [larger plates], matched with a varied selection of Spanish and local Victorian wines and beers.
    The intimate dining area has a gas log fire and during the colder months provides warmth and a cozy ambience.

    An integral part of Tinto’s offering is the ‘jamonera’, like in most bars in Spain. It is the place where one of the world’s prized delicacies – ‘Jamón Iberico’ or air-dried ham is displayed and sliced on an old-fashioned flywheel slicer.
    Tinto provides an approachable, casual environment focusing on quality of food and wine. Tables can be reserved for diners Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm via online booking, email or phone. Alternatively you can enjoy drinks and food at the bar without prior reservation. In the spirit of Spanish bars you will find a space, be welcomed with a smile and provided with a glass of wine and bite to eat.
